Living my dream in Barcelona
In 2009 I rediscovered clay in the city of my dreams, Barcelona, and since then I have started my journey as a ceramic artist. My ceramics are quirky sculptures that carry stories and experiences, and, as a lover of modern architecture, travelling, and aviation, these passions are very much reflected in my work.
I mainly work with large earthenware slabs to produce architectural and engineered pieces. I start by sketching or taking photographs, absorbing the form, analysing structure and processes how this could be transformed into a ceramic sculpture. I then design my pieces using more technical drawings, make a maquette, and when I understand how the piece will be formed structurally, I start with the larger version.
Ultimately my goal is to excite the viewer through conveying my passion for cities, buildings, and aviation.
I have a degree in 3D Design (Ceramics) from Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, years of teaching experience and have set up and managed two ceramics studios.
